Generationally
I really like the feel of this picture. I like the multi-generational aspect. I like the fashions, dress patterns, and especially the various shoe styles from that era – grandma with the sensible heals, the teens' shoes, and the little girl with sandals and fancy striped socks. Grandma and the little girl sitting on the wall and not being able to touch the ground.

Iconically
I'm guessing this was my dad's car, although it doesn't look quite like the pictures of two other similar cars he owned. Love those old Oldsmobiles!
The car is parked in front of my mom's childhood church. In later years, the church built a new facility and this church building was used as the town hall instead, until two women burned it down in 2007 to cover up a botched robbery.
And here is one of my mom's uncles, checking out what's under the hood. He was a preacher and married my parents.

Menacingly
There are some people you just don't mess with. This is one of those people.
I think this is one of my great-uncles on my mom's side. I just love this picture. It's so mundane, and yet, it shows a glimpse into history that is so much more "real" than just standing in rows in front of a camera.
That facial expression! Did the photographer surprise him? My great-uncles were known for their stern looks, but this one goes above and beyond. The camera is obviously also down at ground level, which is a sign of a thoughtful photographer. I love the oil cans and box of tools.
