Fair babies
When the opportunity presented itself to head to the Minnesota State Fair today, I made sure my camera came along. I didn't visit all the animals this year, but I did see some of the babies. This floppy-eared piglet had only one thing on its mind: FOOD.
I think this Oreo calf was daydreaming of milk. Oreos and milk just go together.
This baby woolie was just dreaming. Period.
And this baby was fighting the need for a nap.

A sunny day in the neighborhood
I braved the hurricane force winds and sweltering heat, trying to find something to photograph that wouldn't be too far from my air-conditioned truck. I wound up here at the Cathedral of Saint Paul.
The sun was a bit tricky. Tried some HDR, but the wind was too strong for a tripod, and my arms apparently, because they were really bouncy. Decided to stick with a traditional image.
I really like Lightroom 4. The image out of the camera was tilted and warped due to perspective distortion. I tried adjusting it in Photoshop CS6, but that didn't work so well. I thought I'd give the slider controls in Lightroom a try, and the image fluffed right up. Fluffy cathedrals look much nicer.

October Afterglow
October is my favorite month of the year.
The colorful leaves...
The crunch crunch crunch of dry leaves under foot...
Bonfires...
The smell of fireplaces...
The cool, crisp air...
and on...
and on...
and on......

Labor Day Evening on Harriet Island
I took a few minutes to hang out at Harriet Island on this Labor Day evening. The sun was starting to set and it cast light splashes on the downtown buildings.
Techie Corner
I took the liberty of of removing all color from the image except for red and green. I also applied a 30% gaussian blur and a high pass filter.

35 Double-blue
Lately when I've seen the 35W bridge, it's either been the standard white lights or no lights. But last night it was electric blue. I haven't seen it blue for quite a while. I hope they start alternating colors again. So far I've seen it electric blue, electric lime, electric mauve, and electric tangerine.
