The Right Idea

I was taking some pictures on the High Bridge today.  The first crest of the Mississippi was on Thursday, I think.   As I was looking down on some expensive (and colorful) condos that were built a few years ago in the flood plain, I noticed at least one person with the right idea--a moving truck.

This area was an Italian community in the 50's and it was razed because it flooded every year and caused a lot of problems.  So now the area has been raised a few feet and fancy condos run the risk of some extra water features.  If it ever does flood, I wonder if the owners will have to pay extra association fees for those new water features.

What this winter needs

I can think of several days this winter when this vehicle would have come in handy.  Although I think it would be warmer if it was enclosed.  Maybe that's why it's sitting in a museum.

Back when cars had style

I was at the Ellingson Car Museum in Rogers, MN yesterday and saw some really nice eye candy.  In this case, the eye candy was some really sharp looking vintage cars; like this 1940's Hudson.  It's hard to find a car with this much style anymore.

Formidable Frosty Fountain

Flair Fountains has been around for a long time.  They have a small demo fountain outside their building that bubbles away 24/7/365.  In the winter, however; it is not so small.  The tiny fountain is now a gargantuan ice sculpture.  But it's still bubbling.  That little wisp at the top that looks like mist is really water bubbling.  (A 5 second exposure will do that to water.)  A hearty fountain for a hearty Minnesota winter.

I checked out their website for the first time tonight.  They do some really nice looking stuff!  If they can keep their fountain bubbling with all the below zero weather lately, I guess they know their stuff.

Candy Cane Lane

I've kinda got a Christmas display theme going on, so I might as well run with it.
