Late Blooming Babies

It's late September and my peppers and zucchinis finally decide to start producing!

Nothing but flowers all summer from my peppers.

The zucchinis have had beautiful flowers all summer long, but some critter keeps snipping them off before the veggie can grow.

It's a coin toss as to whether I will get any harvest before the first freeze.  The biggest pepper is about the size of my thumbnail.  The zucchini is about 1.5 inches long.  They are very cute though.

Fruit of my Labor

We had strawberry plants when I was a child.  I bought a couple plants this year to see how it would go and so far I've been really pleased with the plants.  They are getting big and starting to produce lovely ripened fruit (as long as I get to them before naughty critters.)

They had a rocky start with some of the earliest fruit in June getting bug infested or chomped on by critters.  I'll get more plants next year and work harder to keep pests away.

Sugar Snap Peas

Even though I bought these from a store, they were still crunchy and sweet and yummy.

Hideously

I was at the store earlier this week and saw this.  This is one of the most frightening Thanksgiving cakes I have ever seen.  That's a "hard no" right there!

I hope you have a succulent, tasty Thanksgiving – everything this cake isn't.

Campy

We made S'mores in the fireplace this evening.  Reminds me of the church campouts of my youth.

Vitality

It was this lovely lady's birthday today.  A few friends spread out in a socially-distanced backyard oasis made for a wonderful party.

Cyclicly

A little over a month ago, I blogged about some corn stalks that had popped up across the street thanks to the deposits of some woodland creatures.  Well, the woodland creatures are now reaping the benefits of their deposits.  Who knows?  Maybe the cycle will continue.

Biology

Back in May, the dead tree across the street was cut down, but then the stump flourished and blossomed out into the street.  The woodland creatures came and made deposits, and now we have delicious corn growing in the flourishing stump.

I don't know who is going to eat the delicious corn.  Maybe the woodland creatures.

Chocolaty

Chocolate milk.  One of the elixirs of life.  And I'm really intent on getting me some in this image.

Picklelessly

It's been over a month now since my last pandemic grocery store report and groceries I normally buy at Target have been depleted.  I've been shopping at Sam's Club because I don't have to wait in check-out lines there.

Today I decided to give Target a shot.  There were still parts of the store with bare shelves, but at least they have toilet paper and paper towels again and it was not nearly as bad as a month ago.  They also have whiteboards at the front entrance that let you know right away if a hot ticket item is in stock or not.

The subject of today's image had me scratching my head though.  Why on earth was there a run on pickles?  I just don't understand people sometimes.

The check-out aisles have changed dramatically.  There is now Plexi-glass between the cashier and the shopper.  And they also did something I really, really love.  They cordoned off the individual registers into one line and an employee directs you to the next available cashier.  No more getting stuck in a slow line behind someone!  I told the cashier they should have it like this all the time.  She said some people really hate it, but I don't understand why.  I, for one, was really pleased with the new checkout process.

Satisfyingly

It was a snowy, quiet Easter this year.  After my husband got home from snowplowing, we had delicious rotisserie cornish hens.

Chewy

I had to do some shopping tonight and I took this to show my husband that his favorite cookies were in the cart.  Looking at it now, I really like all the different holes and repetition, so I decided to blog it.

Crispity-crunchity

This evening we got some crispity-crunchity goodness for my husband's birthday.
