Alaskan Pecker Art

Alaska Cruise Trip Day 3 – Icy Straight Point (still)

Who knew Alaskan birds were so artistic?

Seagulls Galore

It was a rainy, dreary day, but we still had fun going for a drive.  Obviously, there was a seagull convention at this rest area.

Honkers

More from the park.  Young goslings on land and older goslings in the pond.  Babies everywhere!

Duckies

When we weren't at the reunion, we spent some time wandering around the Alexandria area.  We found a tiny park with a big pond and there were ducklings and goslings everywhere!  I don't think I've ever seen so many babies in one place before.  And all different ages too.

Iridescently

Pigeons don't normally draw my attention, but the sun shining on its iridescent feathers and creating the interesting shadow had me clicking a few images.

Techie Corner

I was very far away from this pigeon and hand-holding my camera. It was sitting on one of the rock ledges surrounding Minnemishinona Falls.

Goosies

There was a whole pile of geese enjoying the afternoon sun in the shallows of the Mississippi River today.

Techie Corner

I took several shots, but I honestly didn't expect them to turn out.  I was hand-holding with my lens zoomed out to 300mm.  I was standing at road level and they were waaaaaay down below at river level.  I was shocked when I got home and found that the geese were in perfect focus.

Invasionary

Like I said yesterday, rubber ducks are all over our neighborhood.  Could be a new sci-fi movie – Invasion of the Rubber Ducks.

Ducky

For some reason, there are lots of rubber ducks in our neighborhood.  Must be something in the water.

Chickie

Blogging from my phone today because my computer is otherwise occupied.

This happy little chickie belonged to my mom. I know it is quite old. I don’t know exactly when she got it; if it was when she was a child or later on.

The Barbie bikini bottoms are courtesy of little Elisabeth, in order to keep Chickie’s butt warm.  Chickie’s backdrop today is the remains of the flowering bulb basket that I got a while back.

Providentially

I got this holiday card from my good friend, Turkey Lurkey today.  Whew!  It's a good thing had I already planned on having lamb for Thanksgiving dinner this year.  That would have been awkward!

Nationally

I think an image of the national bird is appropriate the night before the national election.

Prudently

This mama robin is no dummy.  A nice perch for her nest and covered shelter.

Satisfyingly

It was a snowy, quiet Easter this year.  After my husband got home from snowplowing, we had delicious rotisserie cornish hens.

Jackhammery

Saw this cute little Red-bellied Woodpecker at the park last week; pecking away amongst the budding trees, a sure sign of spring.

Techie Corner
It's blurry, but the woodpecker is so cute I decided to blog it anyway.  I was hand-holding my camera and it was zoomed in as far as it would go, which is a recipe for bouncy blur.
