Smokey

Three years ago we took a road trip out to Bend, OR, which included going through ND, MT, ID, WY, and SD.  A lot of those states were having wildfires at the time.

I took this image while we were in Bend.  It kept getting smokier and smokier and wasn't pleasant to breathe.  I distinctly remember this walk because there was an outdoor restaurant with a live band and they were playing "Smoke on the Water" to make the best of a bad situation.

My heart goes out to everyone on the west coast suffering through the current massive wildfires in several states.

Rocky

Another scene from the past to warm us up on a cold day.  As seen on our Oregon trip in the summer of 2017, when they were having record high temps.  It was 95°F that day.

Hazy

The wildfires in MT, ID and OR made it hard to even see the mountains through all the smoke.  As seen on our 7 state road trip.

Golfy

Meadow Lakes Golf Course in Prineville, Oregon.  It was actually much more smoky, but I brightened up the image.  See original below.

Floaty

I have no idea who this person is, but she looks like she's having a lot of fun.  As seen at the Bend Whitewater Park in Bend, Oregon.

Bushy

My new favorite bush is Sagebrush.  Pretty color, hearty in arid conditions and has an interesting smell.

Dividedly

After leaving the Mascall Overlook, we headed down this highway and into the heart of the beast.  The temp jumped to 100 degrees F as we entered the highway crevice that pierced two massive walls of rock.

Sunny

It was 95 degrees and deathly quiet at the Mascall Overlook.  No critters moving. No insects buzzing.  No birds chirping.  Just the sound of heat radiating.  This is as far away from my mental picture of Oregon as I could get.
