Hootenanny

I was looking through the archives today.  This is from a trip we took to Iowa in 2019.  You sure can't miss that silo and the "barn dances" advertisement seems appropriate for that giant fiddle.  Love it.

Quaintly

I think this is the quaintest funeral home I have ever seen.

Futility

More from our Iowa trip in April.  There was no beer or brats being served that day.

All those steel beams woven together to carry us to the other side.  More from our Iowa trip.

Sunshiny

More from our Iowa trip.  Can you guess what the gold ball is made of and what is inside it?  This complex is part of the Archer Daniels Midland Company, an agricultural processing and manufacturing company.  While reflecting sunlight during sunset, that ball was glowing like it actually was the sun!  Quite spectacular from a distance.

If you can't figure out the gold ball, you can read about it here.

I didn't want to cross a busy road to take this, so my view was blocked by a tree and a lamppost.  It took me a couple hours to edit them out, but I'm happy with the final product.

More from our Iowa trip.  The Casino Queen riverboat was looking bright and cheery in the afternoon sun.

Overwhelmingly

More from our Iowa trip.  I would have put more emphasis on "port" than "park" when we were there.

Inundatory

Another image from our Iowa trip.  At least the people in the back left house have the right idea.  Stilts are the way to go if you choose to live in a floodplain.

Fecundity

On our Iowa journey we came upon a small group of lakes with a couple hundred pelicans hanging out.  Groups of them would slowly drift to one end and then they would start taking off into the sky.  They would fly around in a few circles and then land back in the water and do it all over again.  It was like they were on a ride at an amusement park.

Atrophy

When we passed through Dubuque, we saw this lovely old brewery in a incredibly sad state of disrepair.  According to one online article, it's been in this state for many years.  I hope they can find someone to restore it to it's former glory.

It's kinda hard to see, but there are pigeons waddling around on the box where the upper window should be and a tree growing out of the side of the building.

Gorgeously

It was a beautiful day in Bellevue, IA when we stopped to see Lock & Dam 12.

Windmills

I think windmills are neat looking. We have journeyed down to the MN/IA border many times to photograph them. It was a peaceful day last October when I took this photo. Standing on a back road in northern Iowa, all I could hear was the swoosh swoosh of the windmill blades.

I wasn't able to get in a photo shoot today, so I decided to dig into the archives for an image.
