Amiably

Grandma when she was younger standing with her little brother.  She looks so pretty and her dress and shoes are lovely.  I still wouldn't want to have to put those shoes on and take them off every day though.

Here is the boy and his lamb again.  I have found a few negatives of them together now.  So cute!

Atrocities

When I was out and about yesterday,  I came across what looked to me like a wedding procession.  It was at least a mile long, but they were obeying traffic lights, so the procession was really stretched out.

The cars had red and yellow balloons, flags - mostly foreign, some had American and foreign flags.  People hanging out car windows, horns honking - it all seemed very jubilant.

Sadly, this was not a wedding procession.  When I got home and started Googling the flag and the name "Tigray" that was on some of the car signs, I found that this "parade" was a peaceful protest against the genocide of at least 2000 individuals – including children, rape of women and children, and other atrocities happening in the Tigray region in the north of Ethiopia that started November 2020.  Because of the war, no aid workers are able to reach the area and people living in Minneapolis with family back home aren't able to reach their loved ones in Tigray due to communication blackouts.

Techie Corner

This is honestly a crappy picture shot through my dirty windshield while I was waiting for the light, but because of what this procession of cars stood for, I wanted to blog it anyway.

Agitatingly

Boy, I'm sure glad we don't have to do laundry like this anymore!  Some things are best left in the past.

Whacky

This picture is hilarious!  The photographer must have told the kids to make faces.  I especially like the look on the oldest boy's face and the baby's face.  Way too funny!

Lovely old pic of my great aunt and 6 of her 10 children.  Looks like they might be in their Sunday best.

Invasionary

Like I said yesterday, rubber ducks are all over our neighborhood.  Could be a new sci-fi movie – Invasion of the Rubber Ducks.

Ducky

For some reason, there are lots of rubber ducks in our neighborhood.  Must be something in the water.

Sensationally

Festive bouquet from my husband's aunt.  I think this flower is trying to be the star of the show.

Squiffy

I bet the sassy shark and the drunk dolphin in the background were the ones who polished off that lovely green bottle of fish wine.

This yard has no end.  You never know what you're going to see next!

Tea

Here is some "spring tea."  The transitional time between the last dregs of winter and full-blown spring can be quite messy and dirty.

Went for a walk past the "Sculpture Park House" again today and got some more interesting pics.  Some of the pieces I blogged last week have already moved or disappeared.  This yard is definitely an ever-evolving landscape.

Maybe one of these days I'll get to talk to the artist.

Treachery

It isn't the fact that the goofy little creature in the cage is so dangerous that it needs to be guarded by Darth Maul and a kinky disembodied Spiderman with a whip.  What is truly disturbing is the psycho photobomber in the background, cackling with glee and wallowing in the flowers after taking out a dinosaur.  Be afraid of the quiet, innocent-looking ones.  Be very afraid.

Swankily

They say art should speak to you.  I'm not sure what this piece is saying, but it sure is colorful.

The turtle looks happy and in no hurry to move.

Gamey

Some people plant some really gamey plants in their garden.  Just don't drop them on your foot!

Unwittingly

While out on a walk this past Saturday, we unwittingly came across a yard that resembled a mini sculpture park.  Everything under the sun was there, including this lovely antique plate installation.   More to come.

I would know that face anywhere.  Mom gave me that exact same squinty-eyed stare of disapproval many times as I was growing up.

Chickie

Blogging from my phone today because my computer is otherwise occupied.

This happy little chickie belonged to my mom. I know it is quite old. I don’t know exactly when she got it; if it was when she was a child or later on.

The Barbie bikini bottoms are courtesy of little Elisabeth, in order to keep Chickie’s butt warm.  Chickie’s backdrop today is the remains of the flowering bulb basket that I got a while back.
