Documentary-1

I want justice for George Floyd.  I don't agree with destroying the community he lived in.  Click here if you would like to help those in need.

Since I use photography to document my world, I want to give a little context to the destruction that has been happening in our city.

For several years, there has been an event called Open Streets Minneapolis, so I have a few before/after images.  The top image was taken at Open Streets in 2015.  The bottom image was taken yesterday.

I'm also including a couple videos.  One is showing volunteers picking up the broken Town Talk Diner sign that you see in the before image above.  The second video shows the end of the building that's still standing in the after image above.

Community

"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers.  You will always find people who are helping.'" ~Mister Rogers

Rioting, looting and arson broke out after the tragic murder of George Floyd.  For several nights now, rioters have worked hard at destroying our city.  But every morning, the community has come out and worked hard to clean it back up.  All races, all ages, coming together for our city.  It makes my heart happy.  George would be proud.

Globosity

I took some pictures of my neighbor's lovely flowers this evening to take a breath from the rioting a few blocks away.

Divertingly

Troops watching a USO show during the Korean War.  It's most likely that not everyone watching this show made it back home alive.  Remembering those that gave all this Memorial Day.

Scanned photo from my dad's pictures.

Potentiality

Someday soon, this pile of bricks will be a finished fireplace.

Crawly

I wasn't expecting to see this big bugger outside the bathroom door last night.  The Scarites Ground Beetle, over an inch long.

Eggy

I've been wondering what this sculpture means.  I've been half tempted to ring the doorbell and ask.

Ambrosially

I pass through my old neighborhood on occasion and today I stopped to take a few pics.  I love flowering trees and they smell so good.

Intensity

Mom, pouring over her sewing with great intensity.  And her sewing machine is still in use, 60ish  years later.

Pizzazzy

Dad, sporting, what I believe to be, his pizzazzy silk jacket he bought back while serving in Korea.  Circa 1955.

Techie Corner
This picture had a lot of damage, but I got it cleaned up pretty good.  I think he carried it around in his wallet.

Mom, cheesing for the camera many years ago.

Gelidly

I can hardly believe I talked her into going for a ride that day.  It was October and the weather was brisk.  She was wearing her winter coat, but only sweatpants to keep her legs warm.  You can tell from the look on her face that she was wondering what she'd gotten herself into.

We went for a short ride around the neighborhood and when we returned I asked her if she liked it.  In a screechy voice, she said it was too cold and cold air was blowing on her CROTCH, with extra screechy, wailing emphasis on "crotch."

Best wishes for a warm crotch to all the mothers on this chilly Mother's Day.

Unassumingly

My maternal grandmother.  I never met her, but I was told she was a sweet lady and made the best cinnamon rolls on planet earth.  And my dad should know, he was a cinnamon roll connoisseur.

Hairy

Desperate times call for desperate measures.  Due to the Covid19 lockdown, I had to pull out the hair clippers.

Not only did I shear my husband of his excess locks, but now the birds have some nice nesting material.

I'm not a hairstylist.  I don't even play one on tv.  But I did stay at a Holiday Inn once.

Hammy

It looks like I was really happy to see my great-aunt that day.  Or more likely, I was hamming it up for the picture.
