Unruly

Came home to this, this evening.  The tiny footprints leading up to the carnage is the best part.  It's Halloween, so it must have been a ghost kitty, right?

Byllesby

The Lake Byllesby Dam, which flows into the Cannon River, has been a destination for me since the 80s.  This is the new spillway section.  For more on this site, check out my other blogs, Icy, Dam Construction and Dam Fence.  Someday I will pull out my film pictures of this place.

Can you guess what this is?  The technical name.  Reminds me of a layer cake.  MmmMmmcake

Flocky

We went for a walk during our brief snowfall on Sunday.  A little flocking can even make weeds look pretty.

Unseasonably

First snow of the season to stick to the ground, for a few hours at least.  13 days sooner than last year.  Mostly melted now.  We had flurries a few days this past week.

Crispy

Saw this on the freeway today.  Hope no one was hurt!  Hard to see in this image, but the front tires are completely melted off.

Woody

One of the jobs my paternal grandfather had was a laborer at the Pine Tree Lumber Company (which would have been called the Pine Tree Manufacturing Company by the time he worked there) in Little Falls, MN.

This was circa 1915-1920, as, according to the census, he was working there in 1920, but the lumber mill closed in October 1919.

Structurally

The old Lowry bridge.  Taken in 2009, just before it was dismantled, and re-worked today.

I love the lines and patterns and shadows.  Ironically, it looked so sturdy and structurally sound, but it was replaced because it was on its way to becoming another 35W bridge disaster.  I explained it more in my 2009 blog.

Cacophony

Digging into the vault again to combat the gray day. Mom loved her cacophony of color. Taken in 2004 and re-worked today.

Sugary

With all the rainy weather lately, I decided to hit the vault for something more colorful.  This little birdie was very happy to drink sugary nectar.  Taken in 2014 and re-worked today.

Cuddly

Today I've really been missing Jewel.  More so than any time since the first month she was gone.  Here is a cute image of her from 2003.

Photo scanned with Epson V600.

Soppy

I walked out of the house this morning and saw this lovely rain-soaked leaf.  I really didn't have time, but I made time to get out my camera and take some images.

It was a sign of things to come as we had a torrential downpour when I left work this evening.
