At least he thinks so.

Welcomely

The temperature in our backyard hit 105ºF today.  So I dug into the archives and found this image of ice from 2010 to help cool off.

Seventy

Today family and friends celebrated this lovely couple's 70th wedding anniversary.

70 years ago tomorrow they said "I do" and have continued to say "I do" ever since.

I've had the privilege of knowing them my whole life.

Flighty

From a trip in 2005.  I thought maybe it would be fun to shoot this again, but a little sleuthing found that this business closed in 2016.

However, I did find that the property is still for sale.  I wonder if they would sell me just the pig.  Hmmmm

Saucy

Another from Spring Break in April.  Maybe now that I'm somewhat mobile again, I can get out and get some new images.

The path to work should always contain baby bunnies.

Shimmery

It's been rainy and gloomy the past couple days, but last night as I was leaving work, I noticed these bright bursts of color along my path.  They practically glowed in the wet gloom.  Little orange beacons of happiness.

Happy Father's Day!

Breezy

On this Father's Day eve, I came across this image from 2008.  Russell was part of the motorcycle group I belonged to.  He was a great guy, willing to help anyone.  During a rough patch in my own life, we had a few heart to heart talks, which always encouraged me.

He's gone now, but the memory of this devoted husband, father and friend lives on.

Raptly

This was a blurry outtake from a 2004 test shoot.  But I don't care.  These two loved ones are gone, but it makes me smile to see my kitty stare at her grandma with rapt attention while grandma talks to her.

Honorably

This image is from a 2006 Patriot Guard mission that I had the honor of participating in.

This mission was for 23-year-old Air Force Senior Airman Adam P. Servais from Onalaska, WI.  He was a combat controller, the air force equivalent of the SEALS or the Green Berets.  During his second deployment, he was killed in Afghanistan when his vehicle came under hostile fire.

I only went on a few missions, but I'm glad I participated.  It was very moving to be part of the funeral flag line honoring fallen soldiers and veterans.  As the hearse would drive by, the vets among us would salute and the rest of us would put our hand over our heart.

Sometimes the families and the fallen solider's military unit would come over to thank us afterwards, even though we were there to honor and thank them.

Happy Flag Day!

Hefty

Cranes require an impressive amount of counterbalance.  We have a ringside seat to the new Cub Foods urban concept store being built down the block.

Oddity

The other day we saw this strange creation at the store.  I thought it had sheets of metal on it and it was trying to be a storm chaser vehicle.  But then my husband pointed out that the sides were undulating in the breeze instead of being rigid and it looked more like aircraft fabric to him.

Some more beautiful peonies from our neighbor.

Lazy

When our dog is in full-on lazy mode, he will sit like this at our barking station (aka window) with his head supported for prime intruder viewing.  But when an intruder does appear, lazy mode produces a low grade "boof" sound instead of a bark.  If several boofs don't do the job, then barking commences.  It's a very technical process.

It also helps to clutch a Garfield blanket for moral support.

Pleasantly

There have been lots of people enjoying an evening stroll around the lakes this week.

Otherworldly

Saw this strange creature shuffling around Lake Nokomis yesterday evening.  It didn't seem hostile, but we decided it was best not to approach.

Farm land in the distance, an Amish buggy mixing with semis and cars: Pennsylvania.  From a trip in 2016.
