Most of my object close-ups in 2015-2016, including this one, are hand-held with a zoom lens instead of a macro lens. Macro lenses take more time to set up.
The rest of the setup includes: on-camera flash bounced off a low ceiling, an old-fashioned slide light box for the surface and a yellow file folder for the background. You don't need anything fancy to take these kinds of images.
