Cloudy Crossing
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 76 ~
Sunday afternoon was a beautiful day for motorcycling. I was sitting at a long stoplight and looked up at a gorgeous sky. I whipped out my phone quick for a photo before the light turned green. My phone didn't really do the sky justice, but I still think it's a neat photo.

Not bad considering it was taken without a macro filter and during intermittent breezes.

They Just Don't Make Them Like This Anymore
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 70 ~
Ok, I know I already did a blog this week about this tea cup, but it's just as pretty on the inside as the outside, so I decided to give it a second post.

Care for a Cup of Tea?
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 67 ~
An antique cup from my grandmother's collection and a hand-stitched napkin.

You may think you can't take nice pictures. You may think you don't have a nice enough camera or you need a fancy studio. Well, I think you're wrong. I've included a pic of my setup for the above image. My "studio" is my kitchen island and a LED shop light. Great studio, huh?

Legacy
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 65 & my 300th blog ~
I'm about 95% positive that my maternal grandmother made this. If not her, then another relative.
The intricacy of the design amazes me! It reminds me of a spider web.

Keys to the Past
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 64 ~
My dad loved his cars. Today I was sorting through some stuff and found this extra set of keys to one of them... but I don't know which one.

Commotion in Motion
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 59 ~
When I was testing my camera settings for fireworks on the 4th of July, I thought the kids in front of me waving their glow sticks would make a fun image.
Techie Corner
This was a 6 sec exposure, the same length of time as one big fireworks burst.

Silky Soft
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 56 ~
Beautiful fountain in LaGrange Park.
Techie Corner
It was a bright sunny day, and I have yet to get neutral density filters for my Nikon. I tried a circular polarizer on another shot, but it made the sky look flat. Still managed to get some softness to the water flow at Æ’22.

Throwback Thursday 1989
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 55 ~
I was looking through old slides this evening and found this one that was taken at MCAD in 1989 as part of my first formal photography class.
One of our projects was to take an ordinary household item and photograph it in different scenarios. This was one of those scenarios.
I've come a long way since then.

Serenity and a Good Book
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 54 ~
I first met this beauty several years ago when I was still shooting with film. Recently I was looking through old pictures and rediscovered her. I knew right then that I wanted to see her again and capture her digitally. The 4th of July was a gorgeous day and a perfect time to go visit.
While I was there, a couple was walking down the street. I figured I'd have to wait until they passed before I could get my shot. But then I realized that the couple, loving each other with arms linked, made a perfect backdrop to my little lady.
You can see that image on on my page at Capture Minnesota.

All Aboard!
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 52 ~
The Red Wing Depot
"The historic Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad Depot was completed in 1905. The depot was designed by railroad company architect J. M. Nettenstrom in a style influenced by the neoclassical revival of the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition. The building is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The restoration of the building was completed in 1990 by The Red Wing Area Fund of the St. Paul Foundation."

The Jester
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 51 ~
The next few days will be images I took in Red Wing on the 4th of July.
I love this guy! He's been stolen and thrown in the river and he still knows how to put on a show.
You can have one for your very own if you like (and have enough money) by visiting the artist's webpage.

Butt Seriously, Folks...
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 50 ~
...there is nothing more serious than a butt in the air and a cop car flashing us.
After the fireworks last night, there was plenty of waiting time. I decided to play with long exposures of cars driving by and caught this surreal, unnamed butt as a bonus. Lucky me.

Happy Fourth
~ 90 day blog challenge: day 49 ~
I got plenty of "traditional" fireworks shots this evening, but this one really intrigued me. It looks like multi-colored pine needles falling from the sky.
Techie Corner
There were power lines and a street light were in the way, which bums me now that I've seen how nicely the pictures turned out. I could edit out the lines, but it would be a ton of work.
~update 7/5~ Ok, I couldn't stand the power lines anymore. Not a perfect edit, but better than it looked with power lines cutting through the image.
