~90 day blog challenge: day 43 ~

Interesting doorway for a design studio.  However, not keeping up with its maintenance and paint is poor advertising.  Just saying.

Walking Stick

~ 90 day blog challenge: day 36 ~

This little inch worm (that looks an awful lot like a twig) was having a nice stroll in the sun today, this first day of summer.  Many thanks to a fellow photographer who let me borrow his macro lens to capture this little guy in action.

Speedy

~ 90 day blog challenge: day 35 ~

As I was waiting for my husband to come revive a dead vehicle, I decided to be productive and take a bazillion images of a caterpillar, who was moving a lot faster than my truck was.

Techie Corner
Yep, there was no way this image was going to be tack sharp considering I had to shoot hand-held at 1/20th of a second and he was moving at lightning speed...for a caterpillar.

Down the Drain

~ 90 day blog challenge: day 34 ~

I drove to work today in a torrential downpour.  When I got out of my truck on the fifth floor of the parking ramp, I was mesmerized by the swirling vortex of water being sucked down the parking lot drain.  I was determined to get a picture of it.

Unfortunately, I mis-judged the depth of said vortex.  I was totally focused on the image I was trying to capture and figured if the soles of my shoes got wet, so be it.  Not until I felt the water hit my ankles did I realize that this parking lot lake was at least 6 inches deep!

I hate soggy tennis shoes, but the damage was already done.  So, I stood there, ankle deep in cold water, taking several pictures of a parking lot drain.  Yep, anything for the shot.  And I'd do it again too, although I think I would go barefoot next time.

I spent the rest of the day going squish squish squish down the halls.  Good times.

Get to the Point

~ 90 day blog challenge: day 29 ~

I can't remember if this was my grandfather's or if it was in my mom and dad's house when they moved in.  In either case, it is very very old.  And very very wicked looking.

Spooky 13

~ 90 day blog challenge: day 28 ~

Technically, the Friday the 13th full moon was Friday morning, not Friday evening, but hey, it's still full enough.

The images didn't turn out the way I planned, but I like the artistic spookiness anyway and the green "moon flare."

Midnight Snack

~ 90 day blog challenge: day 27

It could have been the bunnies, it could have been the squirrels, it could have been the deer, but one thing we know for sure: my neighbor's Hostas were visited by some happy snackers.

Conveying a Mood

~ 90 day blog challenge: day 25 ~

A snapshot is just a snapshot.  But a well-crafted image should do more: evoke feelings... convey a mood... tell a story.  How is this image speaking to you?  Does it strike a chord?

Captivated

~90 day blog challenge: day 24 ~

Further down the trail from the Quinceañera shoot, we happened upon a wedding shoot.  It sure was a busy day down at the Falls!

The photographer was trying to get some straight on shots of the couple, but people kept walking in the way.  From my angle, I was able to get a few intimate shots without any bystanders ruining them.

Think Again

~ 90 day blog challenge: day 23 ~

Such a gorgeous day, decided to go for a walk down by Minnehaha Falls.  Stumbled upon a La Quinceañera (sweet fifteen) photo shoot in progress and decided it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Sunflower Girl

~ 90 day blog challenge: day 22 ~

The land behind my townhouse association is DNR land, but that hasn't stopped my sweet neighbor from turning it into her personal garden.  She takes great care of the area and has lots of pretty flowers and lawn decorations.  I have a great view of it from my patio.  I'm thinking of printing this image and giving it to her as a gift.

Quack Quack Waddle Waddle

~ 90 day blog challenge: day 21

Chillin' in my backyard.

Techie Corner
I should have used a tripod, but I didn't want to risk having her waddle away while I set it up.  Image is a little soft.
