200th Blog

30 days of images, day 25.  And, my 200th blog.

I was afraid today would be a wash-out because it started out dreary and raining.  But oh, the wonderful clouds that rolled in after the rain blew away!  I actually got several good cloud shots today.  It was a beautiful evening and I went for a drive to find something interesting for my 200th blog.

For me, the clouds were interesting enough, but I found several other fun things to shoot as well.  I think I gave my friend whiplash as I suddenly would see something interesting and whip the truck in that direction.  Such was the case for today's image.  I saw this military helicopter suspended in mid-air in a veterans park and had to stop.  Combining silhouette, clouds, and a sunset--a perfect end to a perfect evening.

I dedicate today's blog to everyone who has, is, or will be serving in the military.

Coming in for a Landing

30 days of images, day 24.  It almost looks like a star coming in for a landing.  I love timed exposures.

Rush Hour Opportunities

30 days of images, day 23.  An iPhone grab shot while waiting in line to get onto I-94.

Spring Opener

30 days of images, day 22.  The flower beds in front of the house get radiant heat from the sun reflecting off the house.  A lot of times my tulips and irises are done blooming before neighboring plants even think about blooming.  It's cold, drizzly, and slightly windy this evening.  I think I saw these early bloomers shivering.

Techie Corner
The sun had already set and I wasn't using flash, so I had to use ISO 1600 to catch these beauties. I like the extra graininess.

Faith

30 days of images, day 21.  I got this little plaque as an early Easter gift.  At first I just glanced at it and set it aside.  A couple days later I read it through.  And then I read it again.  Hey,  (knock knock) it suddenly dawned on me that it was a really nice, helpful poem.  So I thought I'd share it.

Reluctant Model

30 days of images, day 18.  As I was having a girl's night with my best friend, I remembered that I hadn't taken my picture of the day yet.  She was much more willing than the cat, as you can see.

Ruby Slipper

30 days of images, day 17.  There have been days in this 30 day challenge when I haven't felt like taking a picture.  Today happens to be one of them.  But no matter, discipline is discipline.  I do need to drum up some really creative ideas though.  I'm very close to my 200th blog and it will happen before the 30 days are up.

April Fools Month

30 days of images, day 15.  This is what I saw when I left for work this morning.  April 20, 2011.  Snow.  Winter is over according to my calendar.  Let's move on.

Today's image was actually taken with my iPhone instead of my camera.

Tea Time

30 days of images, day 13.  I asked my cat why she didn't take a picture for me since I was busy all evening until now.  She was too busy napping to hear me.  Thank you.  Thank you so much for your support, kitty.

What a load of...

30 days of images, day 12.

I went on a mini photo safari this evening to find something interesting to photograph.  As I was driving down the highway, I came across this and knew I couldn't pass it up.

There are so many comments I could make about this, but I won't.  I did find it hilariously funny though.

Minneapolis Hilton

30 days of images, day 11.  I was at the Minneapolis Hilton today and I thought their lobby was very pretty.  I wasn't using flash, so the exposure was long enough to blur the people, which I thought was an interesting addition.

Drippy

30 days of images, day 10.  Last weekend it got up to 75 degrees.  Now it's drippy, cold, blustery, and trying it's best to snow.  It's rumored we could get an inch of snow by tomorrow.  Spring in Minnesota.

I really wanted to do night photography tonight.  But with the gale-force winds, I had to settle for shooting from the front door.

30 days of images, day 3.  If you need a dical, I guess this is the place to go.  Or maybe they should fix their sign.

Cat's Eye Marble

Thirty days of images, day two.  What a surprise, my kitty.  Because I don't have enough pictures of my kitty on my blog.

I loved playing with marbles as a kid and I still have a big jar of them tucked away.  Did you ever have cat's eye marbles?  I never realized until this image that I have two REAL cat's eye marbles looking at me every day.

Chives

I have challenged myself to 30 days--30 images.  Today is day 1.  I went out in the yard and found that my garden is completely free of snow.  As you can see, my chives are happy about that.

The Right Idea

I was taking some pictures on the High Bridge today.  The first crest of the Mississippi was on Thursday, I think.   As I was looking down on some expensive (and colorful) condos that were built a few years ago in the flood plain, I noticed at least one person with the right idea--a moving truck.

This area was an Italian community in the 50's and it was razed because it flooded every year and caused a lot of problems.  So now the area has been raised a few feet and fancy condos run the risk of some extra water features.  If it ever does flood, I wonder if the owners will have to pay extra association fees for those new water features.
